She studied music and acting at Northwestern University and Carnegie-Mellon University, and acting with Ed Hooks of San Francisco, CA. She and her husband have four children, two of whom attend Sussex.

What is your teaching philosophy? I believe in setting very high expectations and giving students the tools necessary to reach those expectations.

Is there anyone in particular who has inspired you as a teacher? The students at Sussex inspired me to teach drama. After directing two plays at Sussex, I wanted to be around the students more. They inspired me to go back to my first love, theater, and find creative ways to bring out the performer in us all.

What do you love most about teaching? I love my relationships with the students.

What do you like to do when you are not teaching? I spend lots of time with my family. As a family we love to hike and travel, and to see the occasional show. Also, I enjoy studying Italian, going for long walks, and eating good food.

Who is the person you admire most in the world? There are many people I admire, so it’s nearly impossible to say just one. As a general matter, I admire those people who keep a great sense of humor while making our world better, in whatever way they can.
