Kindergarten Teacher
Kevin is one of the newest members of the Sussex teaching team! He grew up in Minnesota and decided to settle in Missoula after visiting western Montana on a bicycling tour. Kevin has worked with Missoula’s youth through various outdoor programs and recently received a BA from the University of Montana in Elementary Education. When Kevin isn’t teaching, he enjoys gardening, gathering wild foods, running along the river, riding his tandem bicycle and playing music with his friends!
Briefly describe your teaching background I have facilitated groups of all ages in outdoor educational environments for five years. I have been at Sussex for 1 year.
What is your teaching philosophy? As a teacher, it is my mission to challenge students to become reflective and creative problem solvers. I love to search for new ways to bring lessons to life while making them meaningful for each student. With a little extra effort and a bit of imagination, an ordinary lesson can become an extraordinary experience!
Is there anyone who has inspired you in particular as a teacher? Yes, my nieces: Madeline and Luci (6 and 3 years old). They inspire me to use my imagination, explore the obvious and always ask questions!
