MUSIC ENSEMBLE OVERVIEW
The Sussex after-school music ensembles were created to offer a variety of music learning opportunities for students. New ensembles start Jan. 3rd. The deadline for registering is Friday, Dec. 31.
Performance Ensemble (Spring): Grades 3-6
This ensemble is for students who are fairly new to their instrument and who are interested in playing music with others. In these sessions, we cover the basics of playing music together and will finish the 8-week sessions with a short performance of the piece we learned. This is a good opportunity for students to become more comfortable with their instruments and how they can fit well into a group. All instruments are welcome.
Schedule: Wednesdays from 3-3:50 p.m. March 9-May 4: $150
In this 8 week group setting students will have the chance to sing songs together in two or three-part harmony. Students will have an introduction to vocal techniques, sight-singing, breath support, and more. This is a great option for anyone who enjoys singing at any level. (Masks Required)
Schedule: Wednesdays from 4-4:50 p.m. Mar 9 - May 4 $150
Intro to Piano: Grades 3-8
This beginning workshop is designed to give students an introduction to playing piano. Students will learn the basics of melodic note reading, proper piano playing technique, an introduction to chord playing, and much more. This is a great choice for students who may be interested in picking up their first instrument or for those who play other instruments and are interested in trying piano. (5-10 student limit)
Schedule: Tuesdays from 3-3:50 p.m. March 8-May 3 $150
Pop Rock Ensemble: Grades 5-8
This ensemble is not accepting new members at this time as it is a full year ensemble. Please reach out with any questions. The audition ensemble is designed for students who have played their instrument for some time and are looking to play more challenging music with a group. This is open to other grades if they wish to audition. Auditions will be held on the first day of ensemble Tuesday, Sept. 8th, and are designed to reduce stress. All instruments and voices are welcome, and music will be chosen based on the instrumentation of the ensemble. Students will be asked to practice their parts and show up ready to play with the group. If you have any questions about auditions, please email Josh.
Group size: 5-8 students
Schedule: Winter: Jan 4 - Mar 1 - no meeting Feb 22. $150
The ensemble will run for the full year from 4-4:50 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 8 - May 18. Split into three sessions, $150 each.
Financial Assistance: Available for families who qualify for tuition assistance, email Joellen Shannon for details.
