In the Songwriting Workshop, we will learn different songwriting processes, lyricism, melody, and accompaniment/instrumentation. Students will engage in many writing activities, such as rhyming challenges, black-out poetry, and timed writes to create lyrics. We will primarily use Garage Band to create accompaniment that fits the mood and topics of our lyrics, learn about instrumentation and chord progression, and then pair lyrics, melody, and harmonic structures. As a cohort, we will share original compositions and practice giving and receiving feedback.
